Fill in the gaps with an appropriate conjunction or preposition and mutate the following word as required. There isn’t necessarily one right answer, so feel free to give me daft sentences! a) Aníron maded ..... i naur Dha torog ..... i iant Telin ..... Bree Loston ..... arduil I amlug hamp ..... haust (hamp = it sat)
b) Translate: the prepositions and conjunctions (beginners), the whole sentence (advanced and anyone who fancies a go)
Dorthon vi gobel gidinn ach onnen vi Doriath I ngîl athan i foen Man pen bo i lunt? Sui Radagast pent, in yngyl adel gin daer! Menathon na Amon Ethir adh Anfang n’iofog
Looks like no one had a chance to do this? I'll still post some possible answers so you can have a look I wasn't looking for the collapsed forms for this btw
a) Aníron maded adh i naur = I desire to eat beside the fire (by the fire) Dha torog nu i iant = There is a troll under the bridge (could have also said Dha torog am i iant = There is a troll upon the bridge or bo i iant = on the bridge) Telin o Vree = I come from Bree Loston ned arduil = I sleep during early morning I amlug hamp bo chaust (hamp = it sat) = The dragon sat on a bed (other options available!)
b) Dorthon vi gobel gidinn ach onnen vi Doriath = I dwell in a small village but I was born in Doriath I ngîl athan i foen = The stars beyond the clouds Man pen bo i lunt? = Who is on the boat? Sui Radagast pent, in yngyl adel gin daer! = As Radagast said, the spiders behind you are great (in size)! Menathon na Amon Ethir adh Anfang n’iofog = I will go to Amon Ethir with a Dwarf with cider (as in the Dwarf has cider)
1. Rimdeloth = Crowd-loathing, crowd-hatred. Rim = Large number, crowd, host. Deloth = loathing, hatred (older Noldorin form of Delos). 2. Helchfaer = Bitter-cold spirit. Helch = Bitter-cold, Faer = Disembodied spirit. 3. Dannenglor = Fallen golden light. Dannen = Fallen, from Danna- = to fall. Glaur (collapses to Glor) = Golden light (of the tree Laurelin, technically). Basically 'a memory of the elder days'. 4. Seregruin = Fiery red blood. Sereg = Blood, the colour. Ruin = Fiery red. 5. Cefrog = Soil demon (or earth demon). Cef = Soil. Raug (collapses to Rog) = Demon. 6. Narubras = Red-white heat. Naru = Red, flame-red. Brass = White heat.
Context: (All of these come from LoTRO) Dannenglor is an old Elven ruin in Mirkwood. Rimdeloth is one of the monsters you can find there; this is why her name isn't Rimdelos, it's because she was named by the Mirkwood Elves. The others are named monsters from various parts of the game.
1) Iaul vrui. A noisy cat. 2) i guen gidinn. A small petrel 3) i vess hamma laub garan. The woman is wearing a red tunic. 4) Gaud ‘ern. A decrepit machine. 5) i ‘lae varan. The brown grass. 6) Aerchû dhem. A sad seal. 7) i chadhod grumui. The lefthanded dwarf. 8) Aew bedweg. A talkative small bird. 9) Felin haig. I feel hungry. 10) i fannil dathren estent. Amy: Hello! I am confused about the verb nautha-. In lesson 17 the dialog at the start has “nauthog” for “you think”, then “semin” for “I think”. Is nautha- one of the irregular verbs? I can’t find anything else it in the lessons or dictionary. Thank you!
Jul 12, 2020 2:56:39 GMT
Xandarien: Suilad! There have been two verbs used for 'to think', I apologise for the confusion. There's Nautha- 'to conceive an idea, think' and Sam- 'to think. Sam- should have been removed everywhere as it was a reconstruction that we don't need. I'll change that.
